Best Shampoo's for Natural Curls

Natural curls need to be treated with a gentle hand but also have to get a good clean at least once a week to remove the build up of curl creams and gels. The following shampoos are the ones I turn to when my hair needs a good clean. Also, these shampoos give my hair the quench of moisture it needs to give my curls their spring.

Giovanni's Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Shampoo

First of all, this one is a win because it's organic. I was amazed at how this shampoo works. The first wash gets rid of the product build up. The second wash softens my hair and gives it the first punch of moisture it needs before I put in my conditioner.

Mixtina Shampoo

If I want a really good clean, this does the job. Your hair will actually feel squeaky clean, especially if you wash the shampoo through a couple of times. I recommend that you try the conditioner from the same line but I have to follow up this shampoo with a conditioner with a little more moisture.

Pantene's Curl Perfection Moisturizing Shampoo

This one is my cheapy go to shampoo. It always gives it the clean that it needs. Plus, I always get a good shine when I use this shampoo and follow it up with the conditioner for the same line.

Two shampoos I plan to try because the reviews are pretty good, are:

SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Shampoo
SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo

My Secret? Olay Regenerist Multi-Sculpting Cream

I've always looked pretty young for my age but soon after my 40th birthday, I noticed that my skin was changing. I was losing my glow. I was dealing with little random dry patches, a very oily T-zone and mini acne breakouts that I hadn't seen since my teens. I couldn't seem to link these new symptoms to a change in my diet or a new product I was using. Then it hit me, the change my skin was going through was very normal for women over 40.

A lot of women in their 40's experience dryness, an oilier T-zone, and a return of acne. These symptoms are usually the effect of hormonal changes related to premenopause and menopause. Stress and having a sweet tooth can help to bring on adult acne too. I've been using Olay's Regenerist Multi-Sculpting Cream for a while and it works for me. It gives my skin just the right amount of hydration and has reduced the acne breakouts to a minimum. It's exactly what my skin needs and has become a regular item in my stash of skin …

Parkas for 2015 Winter in Toronto

2015's fall/winter in Toronto has been pretty mild but the cold, snowy days of winter have started. If you don't have a good winter coat yet, I suggest you get out there and find one ASAP. Finding the right coat at a good price is not easy but I think I can help.

Check post, updated in 2018, on where I've find warm winter coats or parkas in Toronto.

Here are some places where I think you may get lucky...

From Curly to Straight in Less Than 1 Hour

My hair has grown a lot since I stopped relaxing. The transition took a long time, about two years, so I'm not about to damage it again. Wearing my hair natural has helped my hair to gain strength and thickness. But sometimes I just want to wear it straight and that means being careful not to damage it.

You've been sending me question about blowouts and how I go from curly to straight without doing severe damage. When it comes to hair growth, I have two key pieces of advice for you. Make sure to give your natural hair moisture and go the extra mile to protect it from heat. That's how I achieved the results in the before and after growth pic below.

These results are all me. I haven't been to a hairstylist in a very long time. Not because I can't find a good one, there are many talented stylists in Toronto. I just prefer to do my hair myself myself. Actually, anyone that knows me will tell you that I LOVE♥ doing my own hair. It comes out exactly how I want it to.
